Dick L. Pirnie, 79, was born in Berwyn, Nebraska to Richard C. Pirnie and Nellie M. (Pracht) Pirnie. On July 20, 1954 Dick married Virgina JoAnne Straight at the Trinity Episcopal Chapel in Greeley. Dick and JoAnne lived on neighboring farms and grew up together as childhood sweethearts. He proudly served in the Navy during the Korean War as a machinist assigned to the USS Sphinx from Feb. 1951 to Feb. 1955. Upon his honorable discharge from the Armed Forces, he returned home and was employed by Beatrice Foods/Meadow Gold for several years. He then began farming and ranching his family’s Two Rivers Ranch. He was proprietor of J.P. Cattle Co. from 1961 �" 2006. He enjoyed the outdoors including hunting, fishing and camping in the fifth wheel. Dick died Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at his home. Survivors include his wife JoAnne Pirnie; children, Russ Pirnie (Sheila) , LaDonna (Ken) D’Amato, Trudy (Ken) Pruessner; grandchildren,Chandra Nyx Krueger, Thom M. Bergh, Chandra Rae Baker and great grandchild, Lexa Rae Pierce Preceded in Death by: Richard and Nellie Pirnie, Gifford Pirnie, Edwin Pirnie, Richard Borsen. Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Adamson Chapel, 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley, CO. Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
