Gene Dale Doty

Gene Doty, 86, of Greeley, CO passed away on April 1, 2015 in Greeley. He was born in Ravinia, SD to John and Ella (Gaisbauer) Doty, where he grew up with three brothers and one sister. Gene left school at 8th grade to work in construction in Omaha, NE from 1943-1950. He went to drive a truck for Ed Eisenman for one year. He then left to travel from coast to coast for 3 months. He then joined the Navy from 1951-1954. He returned to Greeley driving a truck until 1960. Gene found the love of his life Joyce Alles in Greeley and was married Oct 5, 1957 at St. Paul’s Church and happily married for 58 years. He then worked for Monfort Packing plant and driving trucks as a second job. 1972 he bought a truck and started Gene Doty Co. where he retired from and was able to travel across the country in a RV. He loved being around trucks, fishing, and being in the mountains. Gene spent hours watching ships come in and out of ocean harbors and chasing after steam engines as they would come into town. He enjoyed John Wayne movies and meeting up with friends for coffee. He will be remembered by his smile and infectious laugh. Gene is survived by his wife, Joyce of Greeley; son, Dale (Debbie) Doty of Kersey; daughter, Shari (Paul) Witt; sister, Dolores Walth; two brothers, Ronold Doty and Bob (Ilene) Doty; and many nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ella Doty; and brother, Embert Doty. Viewing will be from 6-8pm Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Adamson Chapel. A celebration of Gene’s life will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Crossroads Church, 1091 10th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80631.
