Lelia Edith Oster

Lelia Edith (Maguire) Oster went to her final resting place under hospice care on May 19, 2021. Lelia was born July 23, 1945 in Waterville, Maine to parents Clyde and Christine (Thurlow) Maguire. Lelia married James "Jim” Oster in Glendale, California on July 7, 1968. Lelia and Jim lived their married life on a farm southeast of LaSalle, Colorado for 53 years. This farm is a Colorado Centennial farm homesteaded by Jim’s grandfather in 1890. On March 19, 1975, son Marc was born. Marc and his family, wife Yariela and sons Aaron and Luke live on the other end for the farm where Jim and Lelia lived. Lelia’s education began with grade school in Massachusetts. She did not attend first grade but started in the second grade as she already knew how to read. Lelia graduated from high school at South Lancaster Academy in South Lancaster, Massachusetts in 1962. She earned her Bachelors in Elementary Education at Atlantic Union College, South Lancaster, Massachusetts in 1966. Lelia earned her Master’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Colorado in May, 1970. She taught third grade in California; Hudson, Colorado and one year at an elementary school in a suburb of Syracuse, New York while Jim was working on his Master’s degree in science at Syracuse University. Lelia’s great joy was to have all kinds of flowers in the farmyard. She loved animals, especially cats and kittens that she could tame. Lelia was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church her entire life. Lelia had one brother Lloyd Maguire and one sister Muriel Maguire. She had many nieces and nephews. Her favorite quote is - Morning is God’s way of saying; one more time, go make a difference, touch a heart, encourage a mind, inspire a soul. A Life Celebration will be held at 10:00 am June 10th at the Greeley Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1002 21st Ave. Greeley, Colorado 80631. Inurnment will follow at the Beebe Draw Cemetery, LaSalle, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Greeley Seventh Day Adventist Church in care of Adamson Life Celebration Home 2000 47th Ave. Greeley, Colorado 80634.
