Margaret Mae Adams

August 27, 1931 — May 24, 2026

Margaret Mae Adams (Coym), 94, of Greeley, Colorado, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026.

Margaret was born in Oklahoma to John Herman and Sarah Elizabeth (Jones) Coym. She grew up on the family farm alongside her three brothers, Johnie, Jake, and James, and her two older sisters, Ethel and Elsie.

She met the love of her life, Johnnie Adams, in 1952 when he and an Air Force buddy traveled to Oklahoma for the weekend. When asked if there were any single women in town, his friend arranged a blind date with Margaret. Nine months later, Margaret and Johnnie were married in Wheeler, Texas, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love, laughter, and adventure.

In 1963, they moved to Greeley, Colorado, where Margaret devoted herself to raising their family while supporting Johnnie throughout his military career. In 1977, Margaret began working at Hewlett-Packard in Loveland, working night shifts so she could be home with her children after school. She later transferred to the Greeley location and retired in 1993.

After retirement, Margaret and Johnnie purchased a motorhome and spent their winters in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas. It was there they discovered square dancing, a passion that became an important part of their lives. After deciding not to return to Texas in 2001, they joined the Meadowlarks Square Dancing Club and later the Merry Mixers Square Dancing Club in 2003. Together, they served on the hospitality committee for the 2009 State Festival in Greeley and the USA West Convention in 2010, where they were inducted into the Square Dance Hall of Fame.

Margaret and Johnnie were active members of the Milliken Senior Center for 12 years, where they built many cherished friendships. During that time, they joined the center's band and enjoyed playing the Q Chord digital guitar together.

Margaret enjoyed life's simple joys. She loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, gardening, cooking, sewing, and shopping—especially garage sales. Whenever the Coym sisters gathered, there was always plenty of laughter. In her later years, Margaret especially enjoyed spending time with her beloved "grand dogs," Gracie and Eddie. Many peaceful afternoons were spent sitting with them on the back patio.

Margaret was known for her kind and giving heart, her quick sense of humor, and a stubborn streak that served her well throughout her life. She was always willing to lend a helping hand, share what she had with others, and bring a smile to those around her. Her strength, determination, and love for her family were evident in everything she did.

She is survived by her sons, Rodney (Ronna) Adams and John (Sandy) Adams; her daughter, Brenda (Todd) Adams; her grandchildren, Benaiah, Micah, Hannah (Gabe), Austin (Britney), Jedidiah (Shannon), Sarah (John), and Lauren; and her great-grandchildren, Imogen, Grayson, Wren, Hudson, Maccabeus, and Kaiden.

Margaret will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Optimal Hospice in memory of Margaret Adams. The compassionate care and support provided by their team during her final journey will never be forgotten.
