Robert McCoy Mitten September 24, 1916 �" September 11, 2008 Age: 91 Residence: Greeley Tribute: Robert McCoy Mitten was born in Hamburg, New Jersey (Hardyston TWP) to James Fred and Bertha (Weeden) Mitten. He married Dorothy Harriet Sverker on October 12, 1940 in Orange, New Jersey. She died in 1980. He served in the Navy during WWII as a store keeper in the South Pacific. He went to school on the GI Bill to learn oil burner repair and watch making. He worked for Victaulic Company of America in New Jersey until his retirement and did watch repair as a side business. He moved to Colorado in 2003 to be close to his daughter and granddaughter. Robert was an avid Civil War buff and had an extensive antique gun and weapons collection dating from that period. He loved the history of the pioneer west. Mr. Mitten was a member of The Vasa Order of America, a Swedish heritage society. He lived at the Greeley Place for several years where he made many friends. When his health started to fail in 2007 he moved to Bonell where he continued to make many friends. Mr. Mitten died Thursday, September 11, 2008 at Bonell Good Samaritan Society. Survivors: His daughter, Milena Sorrentino; a granddaughter, Nicole Sorrentino-Rockwell and husband Gregory all of Eaton; nephews, John Gregory and wife Kathy of Los Angeles, California, Roger Myer of Diamond Bar, California and Robert Myer of Las Vegas, Nevada. Preceded in death by: His wife, Dorothy; parents and infant daughter, Carla. Services: 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 14, 2008 at Faith Lutheran Church, 36980 WCR 37, Eaton. Interment: Hanover, New Jersey Note: In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Faith Lutheran Church in care of Adamson Chapels, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634.
