Tina Adamson

March 19, 1924 — September 22, 2011

Tina Adamson, 87, passed away September 22, 2011 at her residence in Greeley. She was born on March 19, 1924 in Nashville, TN to Samuel and Philia Syrost. Tina spent her early years in Nashville where she graduated from East High School in 1942. After high school, while working for Southern Bell, she met Reed Adamson who was attending Mortuary College at the time. They came to Colorado in 1948 after his graduation and were married in Eaton, CO on November 12th of that same year. 1948 proved to be an eventful year as Reed and his brother Ross also purchased the mortuary located on the corner of 5th Street and 9th Avenue in Greeley. Tina raised her four boys in the house next door to the mortuary and they still remember with fondness those years growing up around the business. Tina was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She was the quintessential homemaker in her day. Her home was always open to guests and her life centered around her boy’s schooling and activities. She was their "bus driver” in the days before school buses were used to take the sports teams to their away games. Tina enjoyed golfing and bowling and participated in various leagues and associations. She especially enjoyed golfing and mentioned recently that she looked forward to golfing at the Country Club again when her health improved. She also enjoyed traveling and her sons remember her delight in traveling back to her ancestral home in Greece as well as numerous other trips to Europe, Australia, and Mexico. Tina was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Greeley. She is survived by her sons, Phil Adamson, Jim (Shiela) Adamson, Randy (Zoe) Adamson all of Greeley, and Steve (Lisa) Adamson of Arvada, CO. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Mc Bride of Nashville. Tina was preceded in death by her husband, Reed Adamson; her parents; a brother George; and a sister, Katherine. Friends may visit from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Adamson Chapel. Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at First Presbyterian with interment to follow at Linn Grove Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to "First Presbyterian Church of Greeley” in care of Adamson Funeral & Cremation Services, 2000 47th Avenue Greeley, CO 80634.
