Theresa A. Sanchez
August 11, 1939 — August 23, 2021
After a valiant, years-long battle with COPD, Theresa Sanchez passed to her eternal home peacefully, and surrounded by her loving family, August 23, 2021. Theresa was born on August 11, 1939 and lived most of her life in Albuquerque, New Mexico which she fondly remembered for its beauty and culture as well as a lifetime of memories compiled there. She spent her final years in Sacramento, California with her daughter Dee and her loyal dog Snookie. “Snooks” was highly protective of her mom and could be found by her side everyday sleeping and/or entertaining Theresa by doing “spinners’ or tucking her head in the crook of Theresa’s arm to “ say her prayers.”
Theresa is also survived by her loving son Dennis and daughter Dee Sanchez, as well as her great- grandsons, Jonah and Atreyu. Theresa leaves behind to cherish her memory, nieces Carrie, Amiee, and her nephew Jeff (Deanna). She was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Edith, her brother Danny, the father of her children, Raymond ,daughter Denise, and her much beloved grandson Joshua Sanchez.
Theresa had a deep affection for her family and friends. She was supportive and proud of her kids throughout their lives and loved reminiscing about the good times she shared with special friends. She retired from UNMH after 17 years of service, a job she loved and made lifelong friends while working there.
Theresa was a strong woman of faith and her life exemplified this truth through her love of family and many great friendships she nurtured in life. She weathered a difficult journey with COPD but never wavered in her positivity to fight the good fight, despite the unforgiving nature of her disease, in God she found her strength. Theresa will be missed and honored for the beautiful legacy she leaves for her loved ones who remain.
