Patrick Ira Mcdonell

A service for Patrick Ira McDonell, 78, of Biggs, California will be held on Monday, June 29, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Biggs. Pat passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at Biggs-Gridley Memorial Hospital in Gridley. He was born on January 26, 1931 in Biggs to Patrick Joseph McDonell and Alta Onstine McDonell. A lifetime resident of Biggs, Pat graduated from Biggs High School in 1949, where he showed livestock in FFA. After graduation he was a dairyman until 1955. He and his father had a hay hauling business for many years. He was employed by the Biggs Unified School District as a bus driver, custodian and mechanic for twenty-six years. After retiring he enjoyed traveling; from Alaska to Maine. He also spent part of each winter in Yuma, Arizona. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and gardening. Pat was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Elvira McDonell Calkins. He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Agnes Pearce McDonell, formerly of Paradise; son, Michael (Sue) McDonell of Biggs; daughter, Sharen Lindberg of Biggs; grandchildren, Kelly (Drew) Doughtie of Pueblo, CO, Tom McDonell of Biggs, Christopher (Stephany) McDonell of Gridley, Annarose (Jonathan) Mitchell of Santa Barbara, and Arthur Lindberg of Biggs; three great grandchildren, one niece, one nephew and their families. He will be missed by his family and by the many friends he made over the years. Private interment services will take place at Gridley-Biggs Cemetery.
