Anneliese Schirk Rezendes

     Anneliese Rezendes, 96, of Ventura, California passed away on April 6, 2025 while in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Born in Gengenbach, Germany, she spent her childhood and early adult years living in various cities throughout the Black Forest and Bavaria. While working on the U.S. Air Force base near Landsberg, Germany after World War II, she met and fell in love with her future husband, Joseph Rezendes, a GI stationed there. They married in Germany in 1949 and again in New Bedford, Massachusetts in 1950 so both sets of parents could be present for the occasion. Anneliese became a U.S. citizenship in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in 1953.

     Throughout their marriage, Anneliese and Joseph were stationed in numerous locations both in the U.S. and abroad, including Utah, Florida, North Carolina, New Mexico, and twice in France and California between 1950 and 1968 when they settled down in Ventura. Anneliese was a devoted mother to their two sons, particularly during her husband’s tours in Korea and Vietnam. They enjoyed 34 years of marriage until Joseph’s passing in 1983. Anneliese was known for her exceptional cooking - especially of German cuisine – and her fashionable appearance, immaculate housekeeping and home decorating.

     She was deeply loved by her many friends and family, and will be greatly missed. She was often described as the sweetest and most caring person ever. Anneliese is survived by her youngest son, Joe (Colorado Springs), her grandchildren, Justin (Fresno, CA), Whitney (Arden, NC), Ashlee (Bakersfield, CA) and Carson (Colorado Springs), her great granddaughter Graceann (Gatesville, TX) and brother-in-law, George (Bellingham, MA). She was preceded in death, by her parents, husband, oldest son, Michael, and granddaughter Tanesa. As per her wishes, no formal services were held and no donations are requested.
