Joseph "Joe" D. Miller

Mar 25, 1971 — Jun 19, 2026

Joe Miller passed away at the age of 55 on Friday, June 19, 2026, in Colorado Springs, CO.

Born in Wrightsville, GA on March 25th, 1971, to Christi Miller and the late Paul Miller. He spent his childhood in Lucasville, OH, where he grew up with his siblings Robbie and Julie. He graduated from Valley High School and went on to attend Morehead State University in Kentucky, graduating in 1993.

In 1994 he married his wife, Kindra, in Boise, ID, after meeting her at a summer internship. They lived all across the country, having their children in Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Illinois. They then settled in Colorado Springs, CO in 2010 where he carried out the remainder of his life.

Something that brought Joe immense joy was leading, teaching, and helping others grow, which he brought into his professional life. He worked for RJ Reynolds for 22 years as a Senior Division Manager and was well loved. Through this job, he made great friends and helped people progress in the professional sphere, catering to everyone’s individual personalities. He received a Leadership Team Award in both 2013 and 2024.

Joe loved the world of sports, most notably the Ohio State Buckeyes. He loved watching, heckling, and betting on sports, with many years as both a basketball and football high school referee. He was an avid golfer, using any excuse for a work meeting to turn into a round of golf.

A large part of his life was coaching. Not only did he coach his kids growing up in various sports, but he was a Liberty Women’s Basketball coach for 12 years as well as a Liberty Football Coach for 6 years. He supported countless student-athletes and was very proud of the programs he helped form. He received the Liberty High School Assistant Coach of the Year Award in 2017. His family would frequently hear him say, ‘just one more season’ or until ‘so and so graduates’, but knowing he never really had it in him to give it up.

His greatest passion of all was his kids. He was a constant presence in their lives; there for the big and small life moments. From helping Becca find a lost tooth in the playground to going to Eric Church concerts together. From coaching Paige in basketball to playing her in Scrabble. From playing Mario Kart with Jackson to coaching him in football. Ready to hang out, listen, and laugh. He was a great dad, always there for his kids.

Joe is survived by his wife of 31 years, Kindra Miller; his children, Becca, Paige, and Jackson Miller; his mother, Christi Miller; his brother Robbie Miller and wife Julie; his sister Julie Witers and husband Brad; as well as many nieces and nephews.

There will be a celebration of Joe’s life held on Tuesday, June 30th, 2026, at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Colorado Springs, 317 E Kiowa St, Colorado Springs, CO. Followed by a brief reception at the church.
