Donald Edward Vines, 76, of Denver, Colorado, ascended to Heaven on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at Oakwood Care and Rehabilitation Center in Lakewood, Colorado.
He was born November 26, 1949, in Washington D.C., the son of Daniel and Dorothy (Disney) Vines. After graduating from high school, Don attended Auraria Community College in Denver. He married Connie Lynn Rose, about 1990, who passed away from complications of diabetes in 1999. Don cared for Connie at home throughout her illness. Don met Kitty the day after 9/11 but lost contact and then they met again at Bible study in his home. He married Karen “Kitty” K. Olson on July 16, 2005, at South Broadway Christian Church.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 21 very happy years, Kitty Vines; his twin brother, Daniel (Lita) of Denver, Colorado; and his brother David "Bert" Edgebert (Pam) of Hamilton, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel E. Vines and Dorothy Elizabeth (Disney); along with his former wife, Connie Lynn (Rose).
Don was a longtime member of the Interchurch Fellowship of the Blind. He was of the Christian faith. Don volunteered from time to time at the Alternatives Pregnancy Center. He enjoyed doing karate, singing, and song writing.
Cremation will be accorded. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at The Salvation Army Centennial Corps, located at 3900 E. Arapahoe Rd. in Centennial, Colorado.
Clare Retterer will officiate. A potluck luncheon will immediately follow the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to A Basic Cremation of Colorado. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.altogetherfuneral.com.
