William D. Winfrey

March 12, 1939 — January 2, 2025

William (Bill) D. Winfrey, 85, of Loveland, Colorado, died at Seven Lakes Memory Care of Alzheimer's on January 2, 2025. 

He was born in Lakin, Kansas on March 12th, 1939 to William & Elsie (Martin) Winfrey. Bill graduated from Liberal High School in Liberal, Kansas. In his youth, Bill loved singing and playing the trumpet in a dance band, his 1948 Ford Coupe, and playing baseball for a farm team for the Atlanta Braves. At the age of 19, Bill joined the Navy then transferred to the US Air Force to finish his career in the military. He served his country as a Corpsman and teacher of Laboratory techniques for 14 years. Bill went to Trinity University to get his Masters Degree in Health Care Administration. Bill has always enjoyed helping people and worked in the healthcare industry until he retired in 2006. He loved the mountains, camping, sports, especially the Broncos, traveling the world with his wife, Sherry and entertaining his grandchildren. 

Bill is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sherry A. (Marshall) (Crovisier) Winfrey. His sister Janice Kay Stuber of Fort Collins. His child Shannon (Tom) Rutiger of Texas, his stepchildren Kim (Scott) Blackburn of Nebraska, & Kelly Kelley of Nebraska. Bill has 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. 

Bill was preceded in death by his parents William and Elsie Winfrey, three sisters, son Mark Winfrey, and stepson Jeff Crovisier. 

Bill will be remembered at a memorial service on April 7th at Fort Logan Cemetery in Denver at 1:00pm.
