Karen Ann Cosens

Karen Ann Cosens (previously Evans / maiden name Beck), age 83, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2025, in Lafayette, Colorado.

Born on November 6, 1941, to Frederick John Beck and Lila Louise (Downing) Beck/Hannebrink, and raised in Lakewood, Colorado and spent her early years in the state she would call home. She pursued higher education at Nebraska Wesleyan University from 1960 to 1962, laying the foundation for a life marked by compassion and community involvement.

Karen was deeply committed to supporting the arts and education. She dedicated countless hours volunteering at the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, where her presence was a familiar and welcome one. Her passion for creativity extended into her efforts to collect donations for local elementary school art departments—an endeavor that reflected both her generous spirit and belief in nurturing young talent.

Karen’s life was defined by her willingness to help others and give back to her community. Whether through organized volunteer work or quiet acts of kindness, she consistently sought ways to make a difference.

She is lovingly remembered by her family and friends. Her legacy lives on in those who knew her and were touched by her warmth.

May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. Per our mom “Be fantastic - why not!”

Per her wishes, there will be no formal service. The family will honor Karen’s memory in a private gathering, spreading her ashes in the Rocky Mountains, a place she held close to her heart.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you take a moment to enjoy the beauty of nature with your loved ones or consider a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Children’s (Love to the Rescue) in Karen’s memory.
