Mark Anthony Henry
Sep 22, 1975 — Jun 14, 2026
Mark Anthony Henry passed away on June 14, 2026 peacefully after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Born and raised in Groveport, OH, he was a proud fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, hiding buckeyes in the homes of his friends and family even when he moved to Denver.
Like many from the Midwest, he moved to Denver, Colorado in 2001, having sights in the natural beauty and outdoor activities Colorado has to offer. His roots were midwestern; Ohio lived strong in his heart and bones; He wore its colors proudly, but Denver, Colorado was the place he called home.
He eventually married and became a father, enjoying the outdoors with his family. He loved nature. He loved camping, hiking, and snowboarding. Bicycling was his favorite mode of transportation. If he wasn't outside in nature, he might be watching David Attenborough's nature shows.
He loved all sports and was a natural athlete himself, passing these qualities onto his daughter. While continuing to cheer on the Buckeyes, Browns, and his alma mater, the Ohio University Bobcats, he also adopted his Colorado and Denver teams.
Anyone that knew Mark knew how much he loved soccer. As he made his transition from this life---in his final days---he seemed to listen peacefully to the World Cup matches.
Mark loved the library and everything it stood for-a welcoming institution that provided information that nourished the individual; with endless opportunities for learning and growth-. Born from this love, he built a 25-year-long career at the Denver Public Library having also obtained his master’s in library and information sciences from the University of Denver to further his passion. There, he made a lasting impact on the many people he worked with, helped open library branches, and assisted with any tasks that were needed. No tasks were too small or too large and Mark handled his work with determination.
Mark is survived by his wife, Geetha Sivanandam, his daughter, Avanya Henry, his brothers, Matthew Henry, Timothy Henry, and James Henry, his sister, Nikki Henry, and numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, and uncles. He is predeceased by his father, Ronald Dale Henry, and his mother, Margaret (Peggy) Henry.
Mark was a very quiet person, introspective, and enjoyed the solitude. He did not wish to have a Memorial or Funeral service. No memorial service will be held. Instead, his family asks that you celebrate Mark in the special ways he impacted your life and that you spread kindness and joy as you journey through life.
