Matthew Ray Burns

Matthew Ray Burns, 53, of Thornton, Colorado, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025. He was born on August 10, 1971, to Michael R. Burns and Susan Kay Burns, along with his twin brother, Michael A. Burns.

Matthew was a proud graduate of Westminster High School, Class of 1991. He dedicated over 20 years of his life to working at Walmart as a store manager,  where he was admired for his strong work ethic, friendly smile, and the kindness he shared with everyone he met.

He treasured his family deeply and found great joy in being an uncle, always showing up with a smile, and a story.

He will be remembered for his kind heart, quick wit, love of sports, strong work ethic, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. Whether cheering on his favorite team, cooking and creating new dishes for us to try, and competing in our family cook offs or sharing a laugh with family, Matthew brought warmth and joy to every moment.

Matthew was preceded in death by his father, Michael R. Burns, and his mother, Susan Kay Burns.

Matthew is survived by his loving family: Wendy Hildreth, Michael Burns, and Jeremy Burns, along with his cherished nephews Michael and Jason, and his adored nieces Taylor, Tiffany, Jennifer, Kaylee, Ashlee, and Rhylee. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Aug 4th to honor Matthew and the light he brought into the lives of the people in his life.
