Matthew Aaron Gonzales

It is with heavy hearts that the Gonzales family announces the passing of Matthew “Matty” Aaron Gonzales at the age of 36. Matty was known for his honesty, straightforward humor, and commitment to integrity. His ability to bring light to difficult moments and share a good laugh will be remembered by all who knew him. 

A passionate fan of Star Wars, the 49ers, the Colorado Avalanche, and all things sports, Matty enjoyed life with enthusiasm. He attended North High School in Denver, Colorado—graduating in 2006—where he forged friendships that lasted a lifetime. 

Matty is survived by his parents, Sharon and Don Gonzales; siblings, Joshua “J.D.” Gonzales and Jennifer Gonzales; his grandmother, Virginia Gonzales; his niece, Vanessa Avitia; and his nephews, Santino Perez-Gonzales and Emilio Perez-Gonzales. He is preceded in death by his grandfather Lawrence Gonzales and his grandparents Anna Romero and Alfred Romero. 

In remembering Matty, we honor a friend who knew how to share a joke, lighten a moment, and live life on his own terms. Though we mourn his loss, we are grateful for the laughter and memories he left behind.
