Raymond Little

December 29, 1925 — January 6, 2017

Raymond Joy Little of Denver passed away January 6, 2017 at the age of 91 after a short illness. He was born December 29, 1925 in Montrose, CO to Lyman Joy Little and Irene Emma (Lohr) Little. He grew up in Montrose and Grand Junction, working with his father at a dairy and graduating from high school in the Junction. In August of 1946 he married Marjorie Ann Walk in Montrose. They lived first in Grand Junction, then for a short time in Seattle, WA and eventually moved to Denver in 1951. Raymond worked in data analysis for Colorado Farm Bureau for years, and then at Robinson Brick & Tile until his retirement. He and Marjorie retired early and enjoyed many years of time with family and taking care of their home. One of his hobbies was working with wood and he built several beautiful pieces to his perfectionist standard as well as insuring they had plenty of storage. His children will vouch for the fact that “if you build it, stuff will fill it!” Words were one of his favorite things — knowing their meanings and playing with them. Scrabble was a game he was really good at, and you had to be quick to pick up some of his word play (ie. “nicken chuggets”). He was a patient, gentle man with a smile few could resist and he will be greatly missed by all of his family and many others. Raymond is survived by son David and his wife Sandy; daughter Diane and her husband Dan; daughter Cathy and her husband Rob; four grandchildren: Leith, Danielle, Daniel and Travis; two great granddaughters, Harley and Danica. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie, his sister Alice Huckins and his grandson Michael David Thomas. At his request, there will be no service.
