Wanda Merica

Oct 10, 1935 — Jun 17, 2018

Wanda Jean Merica, 82, of Littleton, Colorado passed peacefully on June 17, 2018. She was surrounded by the love of family and friends as she made the transition from this world to the next. Jean was born “Wan-Jen” (meaning “precious jewel”) in Tainan, Taiwan. She grew up in Taipei, Taiwan and lived there until she married Kenneth Eugene Merica and moved to the United States to make a life with him. Ken and Jean were married for 44 years and lived in Kansas, Texas, California and Colorado. Jean devoted much of her life to making sure that Ken, Jo Ann and Glen became the best human beings they could be. She worked part time as a bookkeeper, an interpreter, a florist and a caterer. When granddaughters Jennica and Julia were born, she became their doting “Nai-nai”. Jean was an elegant beauty with a kind heart, especially for animals and people far from home. One of her greatest joys was plying family and friends with her legendary cooking. She also loved games and played some mean Pinochle and Mahjong. Jean will be remembered for her laughter and her radiant smile. Jean is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Merica, granddaughter Julia Merica, parents, Tung Mo Ch’ing and Tung Chen Ch’ing Tee, and sisters Wan-shee, Wan-urh and Wan-ruh,. She is survived by daughter Jo Ann Merica; son Glen Merica and daughter-in-law Lori; granddaughter Jennica Merica and husband Briant, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
