Alan Vernon Cook

April 11, 1956 — April 7, 2025

Alan Vernon Cook was adopted at the age of 9 days old by his parents, Vernon and Del Ora Cook, in Utah.

He served his county in the US Military in the 70s and 80s as a Sharpshooter and Radio crypto mechanic. After serving his first term in the Army, he chose to be a part of the Reserves. Alan attended Provo High School before going into the military in 1973. He obtained his G.E.D. from Brigham Young University. Alan worked for Rockwell International, later to be known as Boeing, where he was an electrical engineer until his retirement in 2004. 

He volunteered with the American Red Cross, Utah Amateur Radio Association, Grantsville, UT Fire Department as an engineer, and multiple other areas of interest. 

Alan was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints and the Freemasons. He had a passion for making watches for those he loved, his first responder duties, and his family, friends, and loved ones. 

He loved to talk on his hand radio with members across the country and around the world. His favorite hand radio contact was King Hussein from Jordan. He loved reading espionage novels and repairing amateur radios.  He had a vast collection of police badges.

Alan marriage to LouAnn welcomed Alan and John into their family. After their divorce, he married Lisa giving him the honor of his daughter, Stephanie. He went on to remarry again to Louis.  He married his final wife, Cheryl, who was the love of his life in 2016. They met in high school and after living lives apart for 35 years, finally got their happily ever after. 

Alan is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. He is survived in death by his wife Cheryl, daughter Stephanie Worwood (Michael), sister Karen Gaisford (Roger), sons Alan Cook II and John Cook, stepchildren David Conover, Tiffney Kindt (Gregory), Jason Bushnell, and Lucas Bushnell, niece Karrie Baker, nephew Randy Gaisford, 13 grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Alan is also survived by his three previous wives, LouAnn Fouler, Lisa Randles, and Louis Dansler.

Celebration of Life will be held in Salt Lake City, Utah in Summer 2025.
