Kelly Benjamin “Ben” Graves Jr., 65, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully at home in his sleep on May 9, 2026.

Born on June 8, 1960, in Tennessee, Ben lived a life defined by service, dedication, a strong sense of humor, and love for his family. Ben proudly served his country in the United States Army for 20 years, retiring with the rank of Staff Sergeant. During his military career, he served as both an Infantryman and Surgical Technician and was deployed to Baghdad, Iraq, in 2006 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Following his retirement from the Army, Ben continued his medical career as a Surgical Technician for an additional 15 years at Evans Army Community Hospital and the United States Air Force Academy Hospital. On December 21, 1996, Ben married the love of his life, Diane Graves (Graf). Together they shared 29 years of marriage built on love, commitment, and family. Ben enjoyed the outdoors and especially loved hiking, camping, and motorcycling. He was well known for his strong sense of humor, diligence in his work, and the deep love he had for his family. Those who knew him will remember his willingness to help others, his strong work ethic, and the laughter he brought to those around him. He also maintained his own personal relationship with God throughout his life. He is survived by his beloved wife, Diane Graves; his son, Travis (Alyssa) Graves; grandson, Trevor Graves; father, Kelly Graves Sr.; brother, Keith (Lisa) Graves; sister, Andrea Graves; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. A funeral service will be held on June 8, 2026, at First United Methodist Church. Visitation and viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m., with the funeral service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Pikes Peak National Cemetery. May he rest peacefully and be forever remembered by all who loved him.
