Vincent "Vinnie" Pat Scalzo
August 8, 1930 — May 31, 2026
Vincent Scalzo, affectionately known as Vinnie, peacefully passed away to join Our Lord And Savior on May 31, 2026, at the age of 95. Vince was born in Chicago, Illinois where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth La Civita on March 1st of 1951.
Vincent was inducted into the army in October of 1951 and served through 1953 during the Korean War, 2nd Division, 9th Infantry Regiment, E Company. He was the recipient of a Purple Heart when he received shrapnel wounds when the enemy overran their position during the night.
The couple later settled in Bensenville, Illinois, where they raised their family. In 1978, they relocated to Colorado Springs to enjoy their retirement years.
Vince later joined The Dutch Nelsen Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association. He was thrilled when he attended a Freedom Honor Flight to Washing DC allowing them to visit memorials such as the World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War memorials, as well as Arlington National Cemetery.
Elizabeth passed prior in May of 2023. He is survived by Sons: Vince (Joanne), Nick (Mark), and Paul (Melissa), including grandchildren James (Nicole), Veronica (Jason), Kyle (Lexy), Keith, and great-grandchildren Danielle, Ethan, Gavin, Carter, Cooper, Lincoln and Rippley.
Vince will be remembered fondly by his family, nieces, nephews, and countless friends. His humor, kind and gentle spirit will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday July 17, 2026, 10:00 AM All Veterans Funeral Home 1020 E Fillmore St Colorado Springs, CO 80907.
