Jerry L. Lytle
August 24, 1945 — February 15, 2026
Jerry Lee Lytle , born August 24, 1945, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026, at the age of 80.
Jerry proudly served in the United States Air Force, a chapter of his life he held close to his heart. A true patriot, he carried that pride with him throughout his life. As a young man, he enjoyed playing football and was known for his determination and strong work ethic—qualities that remained with him in everything he did.
He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and found joy in riding his bike, fishing, and hunting. He valued the responsibility and discipline that came with sports, either being on the field of play or out in the wilderness. In his quieter moments, Jerry enjoyed watching his favorite Westerns and military shows, drawn to stories of grit, loyalty, and resilience—traits that he himself embodied.
Professionally, Jerry worked for United Airlines for many years before pursuing his entrepreneurial spirit as the owner and operator of Motor Tech Auto Repair. He was highly respected for his mechanical expertise, dedication, and integrity. More importantly, he genuinely cared for his customers and took pride in making sure they were always well taken care of.
Jerry’s love for aviation extended far beyond his military service. In his late 30s, he earned his private pilot’s license and spent many years enjoying the freedom and peace he found in flying.
He was known by many for his willingness to lend a helping hand to neighbors and friends alike. Above all, Jerry was a caring and loving father, a loyal friend, and a man who never stopped trying to show up for the people he loved. Even in difficult moments, his intentions were rooted in love and connection.
Jerry will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children: Mark Lytle and wife Linda of Salem, Oregon; Debbie Spray of Roseville, California; Jeremy Lytle and wife Ashlea of Castle Rock, Colorado.
He is also survived by his brother Mike Johnson and wife Donna; sister-in-law Vickie Lytle; his grandchildren Terrin, Bina, Jessica, Kolton, and Kaden; great-grandchild Deandra; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two of his children, Stacy Gardner and Jerry Lee Lytle II, his grandson Ryan Lytle; as well as his brothers Robert Lytle and Gary Rae Lytle.
Jerry will be remembered for his dedication to his country, his love of aviation, his strong work ethic, and his enduring commitment to his family. His legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, and all those whose lives he touched.
A service will be held on May 15, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W Kenyon Ave, Denver, CO 80236.
