Douglas Lee Kerns

Douglas Lee Kerns, 68, of Melbourne, Florida, passed away on March 14, 2026. He was born on October 6, 1957, in Texas and lived a life marked by service, faith, and devotion to his family.
Doug proudly served his country in the United States Army. In recognition of his service, military honors were rendered at his graveside service, a fitting tribute to a man who answered the call to serve his nation.
Doug was preceded in death by his father, Leon H. Kerns; his mother, Lorna E. Kerns; his brother, Anthony "Tony" Kerns; and his beloved son, Justin M. Kerns.
He is survived by his loving wife, Katie Kerns, of Melbourne, Florida; his daughters, Loretta Palubin (Daniel) and Katie Gynan (Justin); his sister, Tina Edmiston (Victor); his sister, Linda Butler (Gary); his brother, Bill Kerns (Jennifer); and his sister-in-law, Betty Kerns.
Doug also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Kaytlyn Daugherty (Brandin), Ethan Gynan, Elijah Gynan, Jacob Palubin, Sarah Gynan, Abigail Palubin, and Isaac Palubin; and his beloved great-grandchildren, Greyson Daugherty and Alexandra Daugherty.
He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will cherish his memory.
Funeral services were held on March 20, 2026, at Ammen Family Cremation & Funeral Care. Interment followed at Florida Memorial Gardens. Services were officiated by Pastor Mark Ostrander of The Mission and Pastor David Douglas of Boston Church of God, whose words of faith and comfort honored Doug’s life and legacy.
Doug’s faith was a source of strength throughout his life. He will be remembered for his dedication to family, his service to his country, and the lasting impact he made on those who knew and loved him.
