Gale Melanie Harrington

It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that we announce the sudden death of our beloved mother Gale Melanie Harrington.
Gale Melanie (Gerrer) Harrington, 82,was born July 30, 1943 to Charles and Erika (Hasse) Gerrer in Jackson Heights, Queens.
She was the older sister to her beloved brother Peter Gerrer.
While growing up In Jackson Heights she attended Saint Vincent Ferrer High School, in Manhattan. After graduation she attended The Bellevue School of Nursing. She graduated nursing school in 1964. She would then go on to complete her Bachelors degree at Marymount College and then in 1993 she would continue her academic excellence by obtaining her Masters Degree.
At the age 16 she met the love of her life, Gerard Harrington. The two would marry September 17, 1966. They would move from Jackson Heights to her beloved Port Washington, New York where they would raise their two daughters, Melanie and Jennifer.
After her husband retired from the New York City Police department, Gale and her husband moved to Tequesta, Florida. They would go on to spend 58 years of marriage together. Completely devoted to one another until Gerard was called home.
Gale continued to work in multiple areas of nephrology specializing in Dialysis and Kidney Transplants. She would later retire in 2018 from West Palm Beach VA. Gale is survived by her two daughters Melanie and Jennifer and their husbands Luis and Todd. To her grandchildren, Samantha, Joshua, Michael, Jacob, and Abigail she will forever be known as their Gammy/Mima.
Gale will always be remembered as a loving devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a devout catholic who believed in service to the church and her community. She embraced humanity through her love and grace and was always a humble servant of the Lord.
A mass of Cristian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 10td, 2026 at 11:00 am at St. Jude Catholic Church, 204-US-1, Tequesta, Fl 33469. Burial will follow at south Florida National Cemetery, 6501 FL-7, Wellington, FL 33449
Memorial Donations should be made to the National Kidney Foundation or American Kidney Fund.
