Randolph W. Whaples, known affectionately as Randy, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2026, in Melbourne, Florida. Born on May 21, 1933, in Norwich, Connecticut, Randy’s life was a testament to dedication, service, and unwavering love for his family and community.

Randy served his country with honor as a retired Flight Engineer in the United States Air Force. He also served over 20 years as a volunteer firefighter with the Hazardville Fire Department, embodying a deep sense of duty and care for those around him. His readiness to always give a helping hand and offer guidance to anyone in need left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

A loving husband for more than seventy years, Randy was married to Mary Ellen Whaples, his cherished bride, who joined the Lord in January. Together, they shared a life filled with love and commitment. Randy was also a devoted father, Grandfather, further blessed to be a great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather, roles he embraced with great pride and joy.

He is survived by a large, close-knit family who cherish his memory deeply. Among his living family members are

A memorial service to honor Randolph W. Whaples’ extraordinary life will be held on May 4, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Ammen Family Cremation & Funeral Care, located at 1001 Hickory St, Melbourne, Florida 32901.

His legacy of service, family devotion, and generosity of spirit leaves a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough to know him. Randy’s memory will continue to inspire courage, kindness, and excellence in service for generations to come. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered with the deepest respect and affection.
