William Christopher Waldron

April 14, 1936 — May 24, 2026

William Christopher Waldron (Bill) passed away shortly after celebrating his 90th birthday on May 24, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of dedication to his family, his community, and his country.

Bill was a hard-working man of strength and determination. He wanted to make a difference in this world and leave a legacy for others to follow. For many years, he lent his talents to Grumman and later, Northrop Grumman, where he contributed to some of the most historic and vital aerospace projects of the modern era. Among his proudest professional achievements was his work on the Lunar Excursion Module (LEM) 5 for the Apollo 11 mission, which helped put humanity on the moon, and his later contributions to the Joint Stars (J-STARS) aircraft program, which provided critical surveillance and tracking capabilities for national security. His work literally shaped history.

Even after his retirement, Bill remained a pillar of his professional and local communities. He combined his financial acumen and love for his former colleagues through his membership of the Grumman Retiree Club, where he also served as the Treasurer for a number of years. Bill believed deeply in giving back; he generously volunteered his time and building skills with Habitat for Humanity for many years, successfully completing 23 houses and helping to construct safe, affordable housing for families in need. He also donated his time and expertise early in his retirement to the Warbird Museum in Titusville, Florida, where a team worked on refurbishing historical planes.

While Bill’s achievements and service were vast, his greatest devotion was always to his family. He is now reunited with his beloved wife, Barbara, who preceded him in death. Together, they shared 60 beautiful years of marriage, built on a foundation of love, mutual respect, and shared adventures.

Bill’s legacy lives on through his four children, who carry forward his spirit of curiosity, integrity, and warmth: Laurie Patchell, Mark Waldron, Lynn Waldron, and Bruce Waldron. He also left behind 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and many bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, wife, and one great-grandchild.

He will be fondly remembered by his family, former colleagues, and friends as a brilliant engineer, a dedicated volunteer, a devoted father, and a true gentleman.

The funeral Service is to be held on June 25th, 2026 at 11:00 am at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims, Florida.
