Heidi Anne Kubiak Jones

January 27, 1953 — May 17, 2026

Tragic, heartbreaking things happen all the time in this world. Sadly, one of them happened on May 17, 2026. Heidi Anne Kubiak Jones of Palm Bay, Florida – a wife, mother, grandmother, and sister – passed away after struggling with a long illness. She slipped peacefully from this life at age 73.

Born on Jan. 27, 1953, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Heidi kept perpetually busy with renovation projects, seascape paintings, and care for her beloved family. People remember Heidi for her high energy and ability to tackle ambitious projects – some referring to her as a “dynamo” who could work through the trickiest renovation challenges. She was unstoppable, possessing the mind of an engineer and the patience of a diamond cutter.

Heidi graduated from Northview High School in 1971. She spent about a year at Grand Rapids Community College (then Grand Rapids Junior College) and a nurses’ training program affiliated with a local hospital.

Among her greatest loves was her family. She married Steven Jones in 1976, and they had three daughters, a grandson, and a granddaughter. Despite staying super-busy with projects, Heidi was always available to care for the kids and grandkids. It was her delight to spend time with them. She had a big heart and extended herself often to people who needed her help – family, friends, neighbors, and even people she barely knew. That’s the way she was.

In her 50s, Heidi took up painting seascapes, producing an array of lovely pieces that hang in family members’ homes. Despite starting this hobby later in life, she exhibited a surprising level of skill and nuance in her art.

Heidi worked as a surgical technician for many years in Michigan, Texas, and Georgia. She loved her work in the medical field. Assisting surgeons with such procedures as open heart, orthopedic, and neurosurgery was deeply rewarding to her. She spoke of it often.

She was also a lover of animals – all animals – and they loved her in return. It seems there was always a dog or a cat in her lap.

Heidi leaves behind her husband, Steve; their daughters, Stephanie English (Randy), Natalie Jones (Thomas Shindel), and Julie; a grandson, Cameron English, and a granddaughter, Heather English; a sister, Robin Siegel (Tom); along with many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death is her mother, Barbara M. Kubiak; her father, William J. Kubiak; and her brothers Joseph Kubiak and Anthony Kubiak.

Everyone who knew Heidi will miss her terribly. She was a dear person whose departure has left an unfillable gap in the lives of all who loved her.

If you would like to honor her, please perform an act of kindness toward someone today. She would like that.
