His memory will be cherished for the love and laughter he shared with many
Jose Luis Martinez Rodriguez September 14, 1931- July 17, 2025.
Jose was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on September 14th, 1931, to Guillermo Martinez and Rosa Rodriguez. He spent a large part of his life in New York City raising his family. You could easily find him visiting his beloved sister, Georgina Irizarry, in Harlem most weekends. He happily retired in Palm Bay, Florida in 2008 after purchasing his home. Growing bananas, mangoes, and avocados brought him so much joy along with making and gifting tasty coquito and pasteles. He was always ready to play a game of dominoes whenever family surprised him with a visit.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Angela Martinez, his children: Mildred, Jose (Junior), Josephine, Johanna, Alberto (Tito), 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
His memory will be cherished for the love and laughter he shared with many.
Funeral Service will be held Thursday, July 24, 2025 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care 950 Malabar Rd. SE, Palm Bay, Florida. Burial at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery on Friday, July 25, 2025 at 9:30 A.M.

José nació en Ponce, Puerto Rico, el 14 de septiembre de 1931, hijo de Guillermo Martínez y Rosa Rodríguez. Pasó gran parte de su vida en la ciudad de Nueva York criando a su familia. Era fácil encontrarlo visitando a su querida hermana, Georgina Irizarry, en Harlem casi todos los fines de semana. Se jubiló felizmente en Palm Bay, Florida, en 2008, tras comprar su casa. Cultivar plátanos, mangos y aguacates le traía mucha alegría, además de preparar y regalar deliciosos coquitos y pasteles. Siempre estaba listo para jugar al dominó cuando la familia lo sorprendía con una visita.
Le sobreviven su esposa de 45 años, Ángela Martínez; sus hijos: Mildred, José (Junior), Josephine, Johanna, Alberto (Tito); 8 nietos; y 7 bisnietos.
Su memoria será recordada con cariño por el amor y las risas que compartió con tantas personas.
El funeral se llevará a cabo el jueves 24 de julio de 2025, de 4:00 P.M. a 7:00 P.M., en Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care, 950 Malabar Rd. SE, Palm Bay, Florida. El entierro se realizará en Cape Canaveral National Cemetery el viernes 25 de julio de 2025, a las 9:30 A.M.
