James Robert "Jim" Newton

December 1, 1951 — October 4, 2025

John 11:25-26 "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die."

Our beloved brother, James Robert “Jim” Newton was born on December 1, 1951 at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Mississippi. He passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025.

Jim was a 1971 graduate of Merritt Island High School where he was a member of the swim team. He attended Brevard Community College earning an Associate Degree. He served as a State Corrections Officer in Brevard and Orange Counties for over thirty years.

He is survived by his brother William “Chip” Newton (Leslie) of Amelia Island, Florida; his sister Julie Newton Feagin (Ed) of Cobb, Georgia; two nephews, James A. McHollan (Layla) of Cocoa Beach, Florida; Ryan M. Newton (Katie) of Amelia Island, Florida; one great niece and one great nephew. He was preceeded in death by his parents Lt. Colonel William M. and Martha Howard Newton.

Jim was a kind soul who lived to do for others. He loved the Lord and his Church, Glory of God Anglican Church. He enjoyed playing golf, especially with Father Paul Young and working in the Church’s Food Pantry in the years past.

Celebration of Life will be Sunday, November 2, 2025 at Glory of God Anglican Church immediately following the 9:30 service.
