Michael Karagozian
September 9, 1949 — March 31, 2026
Michael J. Karagozian, 76, of Sylvan Lake, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on March 31, 2026 at his Florida condominium.Mike was born in Canton, Ohio, and grew up to live a life defined by curiosity, intelligence, and quiet humor. He graduated from North Central High School in Indianapolis, earned his bachelor’s degree from Ball State University, and his master’s degree from Wayne State University. Over the years, he built a varied and meaningful career, ultimately retiring as an Instructional Designer from the National Archives. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Scott Michael Karagozian; his parents, Jack and Julie Karagozian; and his sister, Judith Carpenter. He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Linda Karagozian; his brother Jack Karagozian (Marion); his sister, Linda Chechopoulos (George); six nieces, one nephew, and four great-nephews - all of whom held a special place in his heart. To those who knew him, Mike was steady, thoughtful, and deeply kind. He was a devoted brother, a doting uncle, and a loyal friend - but above all, a loving and committed husband. He took great joy in the people he loved, and in the simple moments shared with them. Some of his happiest times were spent on Sylvan Lake, taking his nieces and nephew out on the water when they were young and or spending summer weekends on the water with his wife and friends - moments filled with laughter, warmth, and a sense of adventure. As his nieces and nephew grew older, he remained a quiet but constant presence in their lives, taking genuine interest in their journeys and offering thoughtful guidance when it was needed.Mike had a quick mind and a dry, understated wit that could catch you by surprise. He was a man of many interests and talents: a lead guitarist in a college band, a licensed private pilot, and someone who took pride in maintaining and driving his Corvette and riding his motorcycles. Whatever he pursued, he approached it with enthusiasm and care.He and his wife recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, a milestone that reflected a life built on love, partnership, and shared memories.Mike will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His presence, his humor, and the quiet way he showed his love will not be forgotten. The memories he leaves behind will continue to bring comfort and meaning to those who loved him.
