Sean Patrick Welch

April 1, 1965 — June 7, 2025

“He's wild and he's gentle. He's good and he's bad. He's proud and he's humble. He's happy and he's sad…He's victor and victim, a star and a clod, But mostly he's Irish in love with his God.” – Author Unknown, “The Irish”

SEAN PATRICK WELCH, 60, of St. Petersburg, FL, died in his sleep at his home on Saturday, June 7, 2025. Sean, a native of Buffalo, N.Y., was born April 1, 1965, and moved to Florida in 1986.

Sean, a U.S. Army veteran, worked for almost 10 years as a craftworker for Pinellas County Bridges & Infrastructure and worked for many years in medical and pharmaceutical manufacturing at Catalent Pharma Solutions and Essilor.

Sean adored his wife, his sons, and all of his family members, and was known by all as a “family man” whose first priority was care for his loved ones. A doting father, he was so proud of his boys and spent countless hours at the golf course or the football field cheering them on. He was also a dear friend to many. He was always the first to pick up the phone to wish someone a happy birthday or just to check in and send his love. Sean enjoyed fishing and football and was a diehard Buffalo Bills fan.

Survived by his beloved wife of 20 years, Kijana “Kiki” Robinson Welch, St. Petersburg; two sons, Brandon (Ann) Welch, LaFayette, GA, and Shane Welch, St. Petersburg; one brother, Matt (Lori) Welch, Tellico Plains, TN; two sisters, Kelly (Steve) Welch Christie, Lakewood Ranch, FL, and Theresa (Kevin) Welch Gebhardt, Havre de Grace, MD; six nieces, Baylee Welch, Cassidee (Matt) Garbowsky, Rielee (Mitchell) Bramley, Grace (Endika Notario) Azcarate, Clare Christie, and Erin Gebhardt; two nephews, Connor Gebhardt and Anthony Mokren; three great-nieces and nephews, Elise Bramley, and Rory and Calman Garbowsky; and his loving extended family, mother-in-law, Norma Robinson, sister-in-law, Rashanne Mokren, and aunts and uncles-in-law, Debbie and Doug Merritt and Chris and Russ Stanley.

He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Ballard Welch, and his mother, Kathleen Ann (O’Connor) Welch.

The family will hold two Celebrations of Life, one for his family and friends here in St. Petersburg and another for family & friends in Buffalo where he will be interred (see further details below).
