Wallace, Albert W., "Al", 76, of St. Petersburg, died Friday, March 7, 2008 at Bon Secour Maria Manor. Al was born in Boston, MA. At the age of seven, he and his sister, Lillian, were adopted by their grandmother. Al graduated with honors from Northeastern University in 1954 and went on to get a Master's Degree in Math in 1956 from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst Campus. He taught math and computers at Boston State College for most of his career. In 1958, he married Mary Walters, whom he met at the wedding of mutual friends. They moved to Randolph, MA in 1960 and in 1974 they moved to Thompson, CT where they resided until they came here in 2002. Al's interests included history, travel and foreign language as well as his big sweet tooth for ice cream, pudding and soft cookies. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary; a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Wallace and Jerry Sniegocki of Melrose, MA; a son and daughter-in-law, Geoffrey and Emelia Wallace of Putnam, CT; a daughter and son-in-law Mary Anne and Brian Fontaine of Thompson, CT; a son and daughter-in-law, Jamie and Barbara Wallace of North Grosvenordale, CT; and his four grandchildren, Sam and Elizabeth Fontaine, Abby and Sophie Sniegocki. He was helped out a lot at home by a wonderful home health aide, Maggie Holmes, with Bay Care Home Care. A graveside service will be 11AM Tuesday at Sunnyside Cemetery, 2000-54th Avenue North, St. Petersburg. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to Hospice of the Florida Suncoast, 5771 Roosevelt Boulevard, Clearwater, FL 33760. Online guestbook available at www.andersonmcqueen.com.
