Edwin C Gardner
April 15, 1928 — June 20, 2021
Edwin Charles Gardner, 93, of St Petersburg, FL passed away June 20, 2021. He is preceded in passing by the love of his life and wife of 56 years, Rita Gardner, and his four siblings. Ed is survived by his son, Shawn Gardner; grandchildren, Chris & Grace Gardner; as well as many other loving family members.
In 1947, Ed met the true love of his life, Rita. He knew the first time they met, on their very first date, that she would be his wife, and would continue to proudly tell that story as their years together progressed.
During his career, Edwin was a very skilled carpenter, with his work spanning throughout St Petersburg. From early construction phases, to finishing a facility or house with a door, Ed was a go-to for any carpentry needs. In his free time, he began his love and passion for flying after the purchase of his private plane in 1972, from here he would fly almost every weekend over the next 14 years.
Ed was a loving father, grandfather, and husband. He and his jokes will be truly missed by those who knew him well.
A visitation and funeral service will be held at Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home, 2201 Dr MLK Street N, on Friday, June 25, 2021 beginning at 9AM, with his burial to follow immediately after at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation in Ed's name to Suncoast Hospice.
