Henter, Emley Mead, 95, passed away quietly in her sleep, March 9, 2008, in St. Petersburg, Florida. She was born, August 2, 1912, in Camden, New Jersey. She moved to the Panama Canal Zone as an infant with her family, and spent the next 60 years there. She graduated from Balboa High School in 1930. She was on the staff of her high school year book "The Zonian." She married Theodore C. Henter who she met in the CZ on March 7, 1936. Emley and Ted had a son Theodore on December 26, 1950. She worked for the several offices of the Panama Canal Company including the Police Department, Port Captain's Office and lastly the State Attorney's office. Ted and Emley retired from the Panama Canal Company in 1972 and moved to St. Petersburg, Florida. She was a member of the NE Presbyterian Church and the Panama Canal Society. She is survived by her son, Ted, daughter-law Mel Little Henter, and three granddaughters, Emley, Elizabeth and Amber. She was preceded in death by her husband Ted. Memorial Service at Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home, 7820 - 38th Ave. N., St. Petersburg, FL on March 20, 2008. 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the FL Suncoast, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd., Clearwater, FL 33760-3413 or www.thehospice.org.
