79, of Pinellas Park, died Friday, April 3, 2009, at 93258 Circle Dr. Born in Gollihue, KY, he came here in 1997. He was a Gunners Mate Second Class in the United States Navy and received several medals, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Occupation Service Medal E, Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal, UN Service Medal and China Service medal and he also served on three vessels, USS Oriskany CVA-34, USS Hornet CVA-12 and the USS Bennington CVA-20. He is survived by his loving wife of 6 years, Violet Larson Adkins, daughters, Karen Fulford, Nora Adkins son, Mark Allen Adkins Stepdaughters, Polly Ann Fulford, Barbara F. Parr, Stepsons, William Henry Fulford, Fred Fulford, brother, William G. Adkins and 21 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 9th from 6-8pm. Funeral services will be on Friday, April 10th at 10am with burial to follow at Bushnell.
