John Lazzara

LAZZARA, John 77, of St. Petersburg, passed away in New Hampshire Sunday, December 24, 2017. John was born in Tampa, FL, June 13, 1940 to the late Josephine and Joseph R. Lazzara. He graduated in 1959 from Jefferson High School in Tampa and then from University of Florida in 1965 with a degree in Engineering. John retired from Florida Power in 2001 after 35 years as an Electrical Engineer. Following his retirement, John consulted for A.L. Gomez Inc. for 16 years. John enjoyed keeping up with friends every Tuesday and Saturday at the Tropicana in Tampa, fishing, and painting - passions he passed on to his children and grandchildren. John had a kind soul, loved unconditionally, and enjoyed spending quality time and traveling with family and friends. He was also a devoted parishioner of St. Raphael Catholic Church. John is survived by his wife, Yolanda Lazzara; daughters, Andrea (Clay) Vigrass, Karla (Mark) Irwin; grandchildren, Kathryn Vigrass, Elizabeth Vigrass, Mary Grace Vigrass, Sydney Irwin, Hayden Irwin, Jackson Irwin; cousins, Rose Huerta, Marie "Dede" Maniscalco, Rose San Martin; many extended family members and friends. A funeral mass will be held at 10 am Tuesday, January 2, at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 1376 Snell Isle Blvd. NE, St. Petersburg, FL 33704. John will be laid to rest at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
