Miele, Joseph R. ?Joe?, of St. Petersburg, died Monday, December 10, 2007. He was born December 5, 1937 in Williamsport, PA. He traveled to the area to attend Stetson Law School and had a successful private law practice for 25 years in downtown St. Petersburg. He was passionate about politics and taxes, and was an officer in the St. Petersburg Republican Club. He was a long time member and served on many committees with Northeast Park Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Carol; his mother-in-law, Lillian Ferguson; 2 daughters and their husbands, Alison and Dave Schleit and Laura and Chris Lenz; 4 sons Louis A. Miele, III, Jonathan Miele and wife Shelly, Jason Miele and wife Debi, and Scott Monk and wife Carrie; 1 brother, David Miele of Williamsport, PA; 1 sister, Mary Murphy of Kissimmee, FL; 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Helen M. and Louis A. Miele Sr., and his brother, Louis A. Miele Jr. A Memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 16, 2007 at Northeast Park Baptist Church. The family requests that memorial donations be sent to Operation Smile www.operationsmile.org, a ministry to repair facial deformities for underprivileged children in more than 25 countries.
