Malcolm ?Mac? Bailey, 68, a retired Central Intelligence Agency officer, died September 29, at St. Anthony?s Hospital. Mr. Bailey was born in Vienna, Georgia, and served in the Air Force before joining the CIA. During his 28-year CIA career, he served in Athens, Greece and London, UK, and had several other postings before retiring in 1989.
In 1996, he joined the St. Petersburg Police Volunteer Road Patrol, a member of the first graduating class. Since 1996, he was practically a full-time volunteer at Lakeview Fundamental Elementary School, and received ?Volunteer of the Year? award several times. As a member of the St. Petersburg Lions Club, he was the 2002 Recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellow Award, the highest award given by the Lions for exceptional leadership. Mac loved the Atlanta Braves and fishing off his dock.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Bernadette; two sons, Bryan John Lisa of Mission, KS and Robert Keith Jana of St. Petersburg, a brother, Russell Pat, of Monroe, GA, and four grandchildren, Dana, Dorian, Liam, and Grace.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, October 6 at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 1376 Snell Isle Blvd. NE., St. Petersburg, with Mass at noon.
