Margaret Jean Mattson, 97, of Saint Petersburg, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2016. She was born on December 30, 1918 to Frederick and Emily (Archibold) Cooper in Worcester, Massachusetts. Margaret served proudly in the United Sates Coast Guard during World War II. She retired as an Accountant from the IRS. Margaret was a member of St. Petersburg Yacht Club, Lifetime member of the S.P.C.A., where she served as past president and board member for 35 years.Margaret is survived by her daughter-in-law, Nancy Mattson and grandson, Gregory A. Mattson of Seattle, Washington.She was preceded in death by father, Frederick T. Cooper: mother, Emily Cooper, husband, Frank A. Mattson and son, Frank A. Mattson Jr. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Thursday, August 18, 2016, Anderson McQueen Family Tribute Center, 2201 Dr. MLK Jr Street, St. Petersburg, Florida 33704. Margaret will be laid to rest beside her husband at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
