Quigley, Mary E. Montroy 86, of South Pasadena, Florida, passed away on April 16th, 2008 at The Palms of Pasadena Hospital. She was born and educated in Saginaw, Michigan and traveled often to Alpena, Michigan to stay with her mother's family, the Portwines. She attended Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan and later graduated from Madonna University in Livonia, Michigan with a degree in Gerontology. She served in the Navy in World War II working in the field of Communications at the Headquarters for Naval Intelligence, Washington, DC. It was there that she met and married her husband, John, on leave from the European combat theater where he had been wounded and a POW, affecting his own release. She traveled extensively during her husband's career in the military both visiting and living throughout Europe and the United States. Her greatest loves were working with the elderly as a Nursing Home Admissions Director in Detroit, Michigan, singing, working with Waves National, designing jewelry and reading for pleasure. Her retirement years were spent with her husband, John both in South Pasadena, Florida and in Alpena, Michigan. Survivors include her husband John of 63 years; her daughters Merle and Jacqueline and her son-in-law Frederick H. Schneider, Jr. Visitation will be at the Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home, 7820-38th Avenue North, St. Petersburg on April 20th from 3-6PM. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, April 21st at 10 AM at the St. John Vianney Church, St. Petersburg Beach. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the American Diabetes Association or Pet Pal Rescue located in St. Petersburg.
