Virginia Faye Ricker
July 23, 1916 — September 16, 2002
Faye Peterson Ricker, 86, of St. Petersburg, died Monday, September 16, 2002 at Bon Secours ? Maria Manor. Born in Romney, WV on July 23, 1916 she grew up in Crescent City, FL and moved to St. Petersburg in 1957. She earned her BS in Education from the Florida State College for Women in 1936 and an MA in Psychology from the University of Florida in 1948. She was a teacher for 34 years and taught at Northeast High School and Dixie Hollins High School. After retiring from her teaching career she began working as a volunteer docent at the St. Petersburg Museum of Fine Arts and remained active there for 15 years. Throughout her life she was a scholar of the world. She was well traveled and well read and used her knowledge and experience to open the minds of her students and her loving and appreciative family. Survivors include husband of 54 years, Dr. Lawrence H. Ricker, 2 daughters, Blythe Faye Ricker of Atlanta, Georgia, Lauren Ricker Connor of St. Petersburg, 1 son, William Lawrence Ricker of San Jose, California, 2 brothers, Donald Lee Peterson, of Gainesville, Florida and Frederick Brown Peterson of Jacksonville, Florida, one granddaughter, Shannon Faye Varner Alexander, one great grandson, Adrian Chase Alexander.
