William 'Bill' Alan Xavier aged 78 passed away peacefully on October 31, 2014 after a brave 6 year battle with Parkinson's disease and Lewy Body dementia.
Bill was born in Oakland, CA and lived there most of his life until moving to Florida in 2004. He graduated from Fremont High School in 1954 and attended the CA College of Arts and Crafts, Santa Rosa JC, Diablo Valley College and University of CA studying electronics, mechanical, and industrial engineering. After working at the Lawrence Livermore Laboratory for many years, Bill established Perfection Marine Yacht Brokerage in Alameda in the early '90s. He is a member of the Alameda Yacht Club and past commodore and was a Director of the Pacific Inter Coastal Yacht Association (PICYA).
Bill's wish was to be cremated and his ashes will be scattered in San Francisco Bay. A Celebration of Life Service is planned for Sunday, November 9, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home Chapel at 7820 38th Avenue, St. Petersburg, FL 33710
Donations may be made in his name to the National Parkinson Disease Foundation and Pinellas County SPCA. The family wishes especially to thank Dr. Carol Pappas and the staff of Shore Acres Nursing Home and Bayfront Suncoast Hospice Care Center for their caring.
Bill is survived by his loving wife Joan, two sons Jeffrey of Vancouver WA and William (Michele) of Los Angeles. Stepson Jeremy Dixon (Carolyn) of St. Petersburg and Step daughter Sian Vrana (Randy) of Fort Worth Texas. A sister Vickie Mitchell (Robert) of Livermore, CA and a brother Gene Cross (Arcegene) of NY and the Phillipines. Also three grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren and many nephews, nieces and friends.
