Donna Marie Mouzourakis (Ciaglo)

Donna Marie Mouzourakis, born November 4, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan, passed away on April 12, 2026 after a brief illness. She was the firstborn of nine children and spent many years in Romeo, Michigan before making Tucson, Arizona her home for the last 18 years of her life.

Donna was a woman of deep faith and creativity, known lovingly in her community as the “statue refurbisher.” She devoted countless hours to restoring and painting statues of saints brought to her by fellow church members, turning each piece into a reflection of care, devotion, and artistry. Her faith was central to her life and was expressed through both her service and her creative work.

She had a deep love for the American Southwest, a place she felt a strong spiritual and personal connection to. That love was reflected in her artwork, her jewelry, and even the music she enjoyed. The desert landscape inspired much of her painting, often capturing its quiet beauty and color.

Donna’s career began as a legal secretary, and she later found her greatest joy working in childcare. She especially loved creating art projects with children, nurturing their creativity and imagination. Glitter and googly eyes became her signature craft supplies, a trademark of the joyful projects she shared with her grandchildren and the children in her care.

Above all, Donna cherished her family. She adored her grandchildren and leaves behind a legacy of handmade memories, laughter, and love that will be treasured for generations.

Donna is survived by her children: Lora (Sean) Gray, Renee (Jim) Cotter, Mia (Brad) Miller, Emmanuel (Grecia) Mouzourakis, Joanna (Mike) Dakroub, and Tony Mouzourakis, as well as many beloved grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends who brought her great joy.

She was preceded in death by her husband Theodoros Mouzourakis and daughter, Mary Mouzourakis.

A memorial is being planned at the convenience of the family.
