Matthew Randall Evens

Feb 25, 1975 — May 3, 2026

Matthew Randall Evens, 51, of Arvada, Colorado, passed away on May 3, 2026.Born on February 25, 1975, in Denver, Matt grew up in Colorado and graduated from Arvada Senior High School before earning a degree in computer networking from Westwood College. Throughout the years, he held a variety of jobs at places like Casa Bonita, Level 3 Communications, and a variety of pizza restaurants. Most recently, he worked as a Data Center Technician III at DataBank, where he was known for his steady reliability, positive attitude, and noteworthy ability to stay awake while working the night shift. Matt was deeply devoted to his friends and family.

He was a tremendous help to his parents, John and Vicki Evens, always helping out with patience, humor, and a willingness to tackle whatever needed doing. In addition to his parents, Matt is survived by his son, Demian Sharman; his sister, Kathleen Hoxworth, her husband Bill, and their son Liam; his beloved dog, Finn; and countless extended family members and friends who will miss his warmth, loyalty, generosity, and easygoing presence. Matt had a playful, infectious sense of humor and a larger‑than‑life way of telling stories—tales that grew a little more dramatic, a little more hilarious, and a lot more memorable each time he shared them. His laughter filled rooms, and his ability to make people smile was one of his greatest gifts. He was also a collector at heart. His shelves and drawers held an eclectic mix of electronic gadgets, collector's knives, and Subaru memorabilia—treasures that reflected his passions and the joy he found in the details of the things he loved. His hobbies were just as varied: cross‑stitching intricate patterns, painting figurines with meticulous care, playing bingo with his closest friends, and endlessly customizing his beloved Subaru WRX. Each project was a blend of creativity, precision, and the quiet satisfaction of making something uniquely his.

A memorial service for Matt will be held Friday, May 15 at 3:00 p.m. at Aspen Mortuary, located at 6370 Union Street in Arvada. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate a life that brought so much light and laughter to others. Matt’s life was defined not by grand gestures but by the consistent, genuine care he offered the people around him. His absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, but his memory will continue to guide and comfort those who loved him.
