Vera Elaine Gallagher
July 29, 1932 - June 01, 2026
Born July 29, 1932 - Entered into Eternal Life June 01, 2026
Vera is survived by her loving husband John P Gallagher. Vera's family grew over the years to include her three children and their spouses, five grandchildren and their spouses, six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Vera was born to George and Annie Smith in Durango, Colorado. She shared a home with three brothers, Clyde, Leslie and Merle "Smitty" and two sisters, Gladys and Jean, who all preceded her in death. Vera was introduced to her future husband John on 4th of July, 1952, by his good friend and service buddy, Bill Epic. After marrying on February 6, 1954, in Durango, Colorado, Vera and John setup their household in Chandler, Arizona, where they welcomed their first of three children, Lois Elain in November, 1954. They re-located to Niles, Ohio and their second child Patrick Alan was born January, 1957. Their final move to Colorado where they settled and welcomed their third child Timothy Lee in August, 1965. The family of five built a place of stability and love, not just for them-selves, but for the many of family members and friends they opened their home to across their 72 years of marriage.
Vera was well known for her love of life, she enjoyed dancing, bowling, traveling, playing bingo, cards and socializing at the American Legion; but her greatest love was gathering for celebrations and holidays with her family and friends, to include anybody who needed a place to gather. Her families' fondest memories are the family gathering, the wonderful meals she would provide year after year and her love to decorate at Christmas. Vera was known by many and will be missed by everyone who knew her.
