Joan Verdeal

February 10, 1932 — February 11, 2015

Our sweet mother Joan Hughes Verdeal, 83, passed away Feb. 11, 2015 in Arvada Colo. She was born Feb. 10, 1932 in St. Joseph Missouri to Randall Herbert Hughes and Rosealyce Gribben Hughes. Joan attended Holy Family High School and enjoyed looking up old friends as she later worked for Reunions Unlimited. Joan married John Manual Verdeal Feb. 12, 1950 in Denver, Colo. They raised their family with love, selfless service and a splash of humor that their children will always hold dear in their hearts. Joan centered her life around their five children. She was a beautiful role model to her family. She was selfless, charitable, a good listener, a friend and devoted mother who always put her family first. Joan enjoyed sewing and created beautiful clothing for her children. She was a witty and skilled writer and took great joy in contesting. She loved attending the Contest Club in which many life-long friendships were made. Joan was a social woman with a warm smile who enjoyed sharing stories and making friends. She will be greatly missed. Joan is survived by her dear sister, Marilyn Louise Small of Fresno California; her daughters Cynthia (Scott) Mitchell, Lynda (Gary) Sewolt and Sharon (Thomas) Moosburger; and her sons John (Lucie) Verdeal and Michael Verdeal; thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her loving husband of 59 years. She is now reunited with him, and though we miss them both dearly, it gives us comfort to know they are happily together, and someday we†™ll be together again. We love you mom and dad. Our family offers our deepest thanks to the doctors, the staff at The Oberon House, the Suncrest Hospice team and all who so tenderly cared for our mother in her final days. A celebration of life will be held Monday, Feb. 16th at the American Legion Hall located at 6230 W 60th Ave., Arvada, Colo. at 2:00 p.m.
