Jane Irene Korpela, age 62, of Cloquet, was found, deceased on June 29, 2025. Jane was reported missing over a month, while communities searched and prayed for her safe return, her family held onto hope they would hug her again. Although not the outcome that was hoped for, it is now felt that she is at peace and is safe, where her family and friends are left to mourn this loss. She will be missed by many.
Jane was born on February 22, 1963 in Cloquet to parents, Eino J. Korpela and Ida J. (Korpela) Koski. She was one of three daughters. She spent the majority of her life in Cloquet and worked for McDonalds for several years, Black Bear Casino for over 15 years, and most recently, part-time at the Washington Ave Laundromat where she made many friends.
Jane loved music, going to movies, eating out, and dancing. Most of all she loved people. Her family and friends were very special to her and she cherished each relationship. Jane was a very spiritual person and attended various Lutheran Churches in the area over the years.
Jane is survived by her sisters, Helena M. (Richard) Seabrook and Lisa M. (Aaron Rutman) Koski; nieces and nephews, Regina L. Seabrook, Monyea M. Seabrook and Angel A. Seabrook; great-nieces and nephews, A.J. Seabrook, Avianna E. Wilson, Alaysia M. Perry (daughter Ra’Ona) and De’Angelo M. Perry; aunts, Mimmi Rytkönen and Eila Mähönen both of Finland as well as several cousins in the United States and Finland.
Jane is preceded in death by her parents Eino and Ida.
A Celebration of Jane’s Life will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025 at Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet, at 11AM, with visitation one hour prior. A reception will follow at the Funeral Home. There will be a private family burial.
The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the Cloquet Police Department and the Aitkin County Sheriff Department for their help.
