Marvin Thomas Laine

Marvin Thomas Laine, age 75, of Cloquet, MN, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Diamond Willow in Cloquet, MN.

Marvin was born on April 4, 1951, in Moose Lake, MN, the son of the late Edward and Impi (Illikainen) Laine. He was raised in Kettle River and later moved to Cromwell from where he graduated high school. After high school he enlisted in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged from the army and settled in Cloquet. He then went to work for Conwed Corporation later USG in Cloquet until his retirement. On September 13, 1975, he married Wanda Brigan Laine. They were married for 40 years before her passing in 2016. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing outdoors. Later he became much more of a homebody and enjoyed watching football.

Marvin is survived by his children, Amanda Laine, Jody (Mike Rubesh) Laine, and Miranda (Josh) Ruth; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 8 siblings, Bernie, Bruce, Art, Richard, Mary, Mona, Sally, and Edward “Johnny” Jr.; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife; daughter, Roxanne; parents; and 6 siblings, Robert, Janet, Jack Charles, Lloyd, and Peggy.

Memorial gathering for Marvin will be held from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Monday, May 11. 2026, at Atkins Northland Funeral Home in Cloquet, MN.
