Sharon Ann Prouty
January 21, 1936 — April 11, 2026
Sharon Prouty, 90, a lifetime resident of Syracuse, New York, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026.
Sharon was pre-deceased by her, loving husband of 64 years, Leland Prouty, her beloved mother, Mildred, brother Charles, and a sister Evelyn. She is survived by two children, Laura Lee (husband, Beau) and Leland Andrew ( wife, Ilona), and two grandchildren, granddaughter, Dallas, and grandson Aleckzander.
Sharon was a graduate of Central high school. After graduating early, she went to work for an insurance company. She met her husband at the interdenominational fellowship on Canandaigua Lake. She said when he walked through the door, it looked as though he was glowing and she simply had to meet him.
Once the children had started school, Sharon went to work as a lunch lady at McKinley elementary school for several years she then took the job at the Onondaga County clerks office, where she worked until she retired.
After retirement, her and her husband enjoyed taking many trips throughout the United States. Her favorites were two trips to Hawaii, a cruise to Alaska, and a family trip to Disney World in Florida.
Sharon was a great cat lover. She owned many cats throughout her life and loved every single one of them with all her heart. She has survived by one cat, Tommy, who now lives happily with her son Leland.
Sharon enjoyed gardening crafting and spending time with all of her friends at Saint Paul’s Methodist Church.
Sharon had a loving heart and a kind soul and was always willing to put other people before herself.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026 from 10am -11am followed by internment at Oakwood Cemetery.
