Mary Elizabeth Chasse

Mary E. Chasse, age 98, a native of Walpole New Hampshire and resident of Viera FL, passed on 04/21/2026. She was the first born of the family of Thomas Barry and Ruth Barry. She graduated from Walpole NH high school in 1946 and Dresser Business College in Keene, NH in 1949. She worked for the Dartmouth College Sports Publicity Dept in Hanover, NH where she met and married LTJG Robert L Chasse, USN in 1955. Mary was a Navy wife during Bob's 33-year Navy career. She was the planner, organizer, and executor of 26 family moves all over the country including an overseas assignment in Guam. During that time, she was also occupied raising four children. Marie, born in 1956 in Hanover NH, David, in 1958 in Norfolk VA, Richard, in 1960 in the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery ME, and Robert T, in Portsmouth, NH in 1961. After Bob retired from the Navy as Captain in 1985, they moved to northern Virginia where they resided for 12 years before establishing their residence at Indian River Colony Club in Viera FL in 1997. Mary is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Abigail Sterns Chapter 853, an Associate Life Member of the Snug Harbor Base of the United States Submarine Veterans, INC and an auxiliary member of the American Legion Post 145, Frenchville, ME. Mary is survived by her four children, Marie in California, David in Texas, Richard in Virginia and Robert in Maryland, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Sheila Vaillencourt of Walpole NH. Catholic funeral services and burial will be in the Arlington National cemetery on a date to be announced.
